Suspect arrested in Mark McMillan murder | News, Sports, Jobs

According to information released Thursday, Minot police have arrested a suspect in the investigation into the murder of Mark Ramon McMillan.

Delon Evan Davis, 46, Minot, was arrested at 11 a.m. Thursday for the murder of McMillan and booked into the Ward County Jail.

This is the latest development in the investigation that was launched after McMillan’s body was found in the basement of a Main Street South business on July 2. McMillan had been reported missing after losing contact with his family members in early April.

“This case was extremely complex, especially given the many anonymous tips we received,” Said Investigation Commander Captain Dale Plessas. “Our investigators have spent countless hours looking into this. Thank you to everyone who came forward with information that helped our investigators solve this case and bring closure to the family.”

According to court records, Davis is charged with intentionally or knowingly murdering an adult victim (a Class AA felony), tampering with evidence, theft and possession of a firearm, ammunition and an explosive device (both Class C felonies), and providing false information to police (a Class A misdemeanor).

Davis faces a minimum sentence of four years in prison without the possibility of parole on the murder charges. His first appearance in the murder trial has not yet been scheduled, according to court records.

Davis was at large on two open cases of theft and cruelty to animals. A trial was ordered following a July 10 hearing on pretrial detention violations. Trials in both cases are scheduled to begin on January 28, 2025.
