Charges of sexual abuse of minors filed against suspect arrested this week

Erick Mauricio Guevera, 27, of Mooresville, was arrested by Mooresville police on charges of rape of a child under 15 and solicitation of minors to commit crimes.

On Tuesday (July 16), Mooresville Police received a report of a possible sexual assault involving a 13-year-old female victim. Officers responded and spoke with the minor’s parents, and learned that inappropriate behavior may have occurred between the victim and an adult neighbor.

The suspect was identified as Guevera and was questioned by a Mooresville Police Detective. During questioning, the suspect admitted that he allowed the victim to come to his home, where he gave her marijuana and had sexual intercourse with her. The suspect also stated that he knew the victim was a minor.

Guevera was booked into the Iredell County Detention Center without bail following his arrest. As of today (July 19), he was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County. A District Court appearance is scheduled for August 5.
