Suspect charged in shooting of 19-year-old man in Houston | State

Houston, Texas – Charges have been filed against a suspect in the shooting of a man at 17133 Imperial Valley Drive around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect, Marty Andrew West, 39, is charged with four felonies: aggravated assault on a family member, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation and unlawful carrying of a weapon with a felony conviction. The charges were filed in the state’s 174th District Court.

According to Officer B. Padilla of the Houston Police Department (HPD) Major Assault and Domestic Violence Division, HPD patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the 19-year-old victim to an area hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses told police that West forced his way into the apartment, fought with the victim and then shot him. The suspect also assaulted another adult male before fleeing the scene.
