One dead and one injured in accident on State Route 17 near Owego

One person was killed and another was injured when a semi-trailer truck and a motorcycle collided on State Route 17 eastbound near the city of Owego on Thursday afternoon.

According to the New York State Police, the accident occurred around 1 p.m. and one death was confirmed.

Due to the accident, State Route 17 had to be closed between exits 65 and 67. As of 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, the road was reopened to traffic.

The injured victim was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment. Police did not provide further details on the extent of the injuries.
