City resident arrested for drugs | News, sports, jobs

Two city residents are behind bars after a traffic stop Tuesday revealed that the vehicle’s occupants had active warrants.

The Altoona Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit and agents from the Attorney General’s BNI Unit conducted surveillance in the city, while the APD’s K-9 Unit conducted vehicle stops requested by surveillance units, police reported on their Facebook page.

When police conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation, it was discovered that the inmates, Miranda Confer, 30, and Christopher Bennett, 33, had active warrants.

The two were taken into custody and searched until they were arrested. At Confer, police found a cylinder with white residue inside.

K9 Blue then gave a positive alarm for the presence of narcotics while sniffing the vehicle outside, police reported.

Bennett is charged with three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were booked into the Blair County Jail and failed to post $100,000 bail. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 22 before District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio.
