Nebraska State Patrol finds 17 firearms and a quantity of drugs during drug investigation

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol arrested two people Thursday after finding numerous weapons and controlled substances.

The State Patrol SWAT team and a drug task force executed a search warrant on Eighth Avenue in Kearney this morning.

During the search, investigators said they found twelve firearms, about 5 kilograms of marijuana, one gram of cocaine, 1.8 kilograms of THC wax and four dozen mushroom chocolate bars.

Authorities found the resident of the house, 36-year-old Shane Martin, at work and arrested him.

Martin was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances with the intent to resell within a school zone and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was booked into the Buffalo County Jail.

Officials said a search warrant was executed 25 miles south of Kearney in Funk, Nebraska.

Police said they found five more firearms as well as a small amount of marijuana products and mushrooms.

Dakota Hancock, 29, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken to the Phelps County Jail.
