Previously deported illegal immigrant charged with sexual abuse of 14-year-old girl

In Florida, a previously deported illegal immigrant was charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.

Kevin Mauricio Escobar Munoz, 20, was arrested Wednesday by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on charges of sexual battery and burglary with bodily injury. According to police, Escobar Munoz broke into the 14-year-old victim’s home and then sexually assaulted her.

Escobar Munoz is an illegal immigrant from Honduras and was deported in September 2022. He is currently in the Okaloosa County Jail and has been taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The girl was attacked in April and investigators said they had just found a DNA match with Escobar Munoz.

“The victim told investigators that on April 21, shortly before 7:00 a.m., she was sexually assaulted by an unknown Hispanic man at her Fort Walton Beach home,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “She reported that he covered her mouth with his hand and spoke in Spanish.”

According to police, the girl believed the attacker left her house through the back door.

“A medical examination of the victim resulted in a positive result for sexual abuse. On July 11, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported that the male DNA profile that matched the male sample from the victim’s sex offender kit belonged to Escobar Munoz,” the sheriff’s office said.

According to investigators, Escobar Munoz lived within 1 mile of the victim’s home.

In a press conference, Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden said the southern border must be secured and illegal immigration must be stopped.

“I can tell you from a sheriff’s or local police perspective, I’m sick of it,” he said, according to WEAR News. “There is a process in place and I understand it’s tedious, but a lot of people are doing it right. But it has to stop coming across our borders and giving citizens benefits that locals don’t even have.”

Aden referred to another case in the county where 24-year-old Jose Chan, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested for attacking another 14-year-old girl.

“These are two 14-year-old girls, and young girls have been molested by illegal aliens,” he said. “Are you wondering when this will stop?”

Under President Joe Biden, record numbers of illegal immigrants streamed across the border, leading to calls for him to close the border.
