1 dead in multi-vehicle crash on I-680 in Fremont – NBC Bay Area

At least one person died in a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 680 in Fremont Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said its officers learned of a crash involving six vehicles, including a skidding tractor-trailer, in the southbound lanes of the highway north of the Mission Boulevard South exit at around 7:05 a.m.

According to the CHP, the collision closed three lanes of southbound I-680 between Auto Mall Parkway and the Mission Boulevard exit.

Several lanes of the highway were closed for hours, the CHP said. Drivers traveling in the area were advised that traffic delays could occur.

Shortly after 1 p.m., all lanes were reopened, the CHP said.
