Douglas County man arrested for robbery at construction site

A 38-year-old man was arrested by officers as part of the investigation into a suspected robbery at a construction site, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Officers received a report of theft on July 10 from the construction site, which was located near 211th Street and Ellison Avenue – in an Elkhorn neighborhood affected by the April tornado outbreak, officials said. A construction company reported its trailer broken into and about $5,000 worth of tools stolen, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators said license plate readers installed to protect victims and contractors in the tornado-ravaged area were used to identify a suspect and a vehicle allegedly involved. On Wednesday, officers used a search warrant to raid a resident’s home near 20th and Castelar streets and recovered more than 100 stolen tools valued at about $20,000, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said. Natanael Topete-Perez was arrested for stealing more than $5,000. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said he had previously been arrested for another theft at a construction site in December 2023. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a 38-year-old man was arrested by officers as part of an investigation into a suspected robbery at a construction site.

Officials said officers received a report of theft on July 10 from the construction site near 211th Street and Ellison Avenue, a neighborhood in Elkhorn that was affected by the April tornado outbreak.

A construction company reported that its trailer had been broken into and tools valued at about $5,000 had been stolen, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators said license plate readers installed to protect victims and contractors in the tornado-affected area were used to identify a suspect and a vehicle believed to be involved.

On Wednesday, officers serving a search warrant searched a home near the corner of 20th and Castelar streets and seized more than 100 stolen tools valued at about $20,000, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Natanael Topete-Perez was taken into custody for theft over $5,000.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said he had previously been arrested for another theft at a construction site in December 2023. Topete-Perez was released on bail and was on probation at the time of the current theft.
