EDINBURGH – One person was killed in a crash south of County Road 800N in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31, according to Edinburgh Police Department.

The accident was reported at around 12:20 on Thursday. Two pickup trucks were involved, one of them with a trailer. Lifeline Helicopter was called to the scene and arrived at 12:50. It left the scene at 1:25 p.m.

The accident and the ongoing investigation have caused traffic blockages in the northbound and southbound lanes of US 31. Traffic is being diverted from US 31 at the accident site.

U.S. 31 is closed in both directions due to a serious crash in the area of ​​Presidential Way north of the Indiana Premium Outlet Mall south of Edinburg, according to Republic reporter Mark Webber, who was on the scene around 12:45 p.m. Thursday. Webber said traffic in the area is being detoured.

Sergeant Dane Duke of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department said a serious injury crash occurred on U.S. 31 near County Road 800 North. He said Lifeline transported an injured person from the scene. Duke could not immediately confirm that the highway was closed in both directions at the crash site, but said the southbound lanes were closed.
