Houston, Texas News: Decomposing Bodies Found in Back of Large Truck

“It looks like they’re two bodies, for sure. They’ve been there a long time, so they’re very decomposed, almost like a mummy,” Lt. Willkens said.

HOUSTON — Two people believed to be homeless were found dead in the back of a truck in northwest Houston early Thursday morning, police said.

Houston Police Department Lt. R. Willkens said the discovery was made after citizens called 911 shortly after midnight when they heard people who were also homeless talking about the bodies.

HPD and Houston Fire Department crews responded to the area and began searching a parking lot with numerous 18-wheeler trucks filled with Purple Heart donations, but initially found nothing.

At one point, crews noticed a hole had been cut in the roof of one of the trucks. HFD brought in a ladder and the bodies were discovered.

“It looks like they’re two bodies, for sure. They’ve been there a long time, so they’re very decomposed, almost like a mummy,” Lt. Willkens said.

Willkens said it appeared the two were living in the truck.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
