Identity of FBI shooting victim in Carroll County revealed

The man shot and killed by an FBI agent in Carroll County on Monday has been identified as 25-year-old Jacob Bible.

Authorities have still not released his name and have released little information about the shooting, but Bible’s mother, Amy Blake, told the Canton Repository her son was shot inside their home on Perron Road SE in Union Township.

“I was told they had a search warrant that they were going to execute; that was what happened during that time,” Blake said, adding that she was not told what the FBI was looking for when they came to her home that morning.

She said Bible was alone at the time. She was out of town. Her husband had a doctor’s appointment. Blake said authorities notified her husband after the shooting; he then contacted her.

Bible was charged with domestic violence and assault by local police last month following an incident at his home. His mother said the case – which was still pending – had nothing to do with Monday’s search.

“He had a drug problem … and was getting help for it,” she said.

Bible, who was born in Canton, had lived in Carroll County for the past year. Before that, he had lived in Kentucky, Tennessee and other parts of Ohio, according to an obituary at Gordon Funeral Homes in Magnolia.

“He was just a loner,” Blake said. “But he was very sweet.”

The obituary states that his father, Gaylen Bible, predeceased him. In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his brother Justin Pasacic, his grandparents Joe and Charlotte Swinford, his aunt Carrie Swinford and his uncle Brian Swinford.
