Tampa man and dog die in accident while trying to help his girlfriend

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A Tampa man and his dog died when he rushed to a car crash involving his girlfriend over the weekend, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

On Saturday, a woman was involved in a two-vehicle accident on US-92, at the northbound ramp to I-75.


According to FHP, the woman’s boyfriend, a 23-year-old man from Tampa, came to the scene after the collision at her request.

When the friend got out of his car, his dog followed him and ran onto the road.

Authorities said the man attempted to grab the Doberman but was struck by a 31-year-old Plant City woman driving a Honda CRV.

The dog died at the scene of the accident, the driver was uninjured.

However, the man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
