Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing a child

According to court documents, the 45-year-old Floresville man sexually abused and exploited his victim at a daycare center in December 2022.

SAN ANTONIO — A Floresville man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in federal court for sexually exploiting a 7-year-old girl, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to court documents, Rodney Allan Felux, 45, sexually abused and exploited the little girl in December 2022 while she was attending a daycare center. The child told her mother that she was sexually abused while blindfolded and then taken to a shed where Felux took numerous sexually explicit images of her. This led to an investigation into the incident.

“As the court explained at sentencing, the penalties for this offense are severe for good reason,” said U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza for the Western District of Texas. “The defendant caused irreparable harm to this young girl as a result of his intended, planned, and executed predatory sexual conduct.”

Felux was arrested on Jan. 11, 2023, and pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of children in January 2024, the Justice Department said. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery ordered Felux to pay $50,000 in restitution to the victim in addition to a 30-year prison sentence and lifetime probation.

“This verdict sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the sexual abuse and exploitation of children in our community,” said Special Agent in Charge Aaron Tapp of the FBI’s San Antonio Field Office. “The FBI, along with our law enforcement partners at the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, will continue to vigorously pursue every lead to rescue child victims of sexual abuse and bring their perpetrators to justice.”
