Investigation into sexual abuse of a minor leads to arrest of social worker – First update from the state

Investigators at the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center in Maryland have launched an investigation into the sexual abuse of a minor, officials said Wednesday. The case centers on allegations made by the alleged victim, who authorities said described multiple incidents of abuse that occurred several years ago in Wicomico County.

The suspect, identified as Reginald Harrison Shockley, 66, of Parsonsburg, Maryland, was arrested on July 16, 2024. Court records show Shockley faces multiple charges, some dating back to 2015 – 2020, while others date back to 2017 – 2020.

On July 17, 2024, Shockley appeared in Wicomico District Court for a bail review hearing presided over by Judge Paula A. Price. Shockley was released on his own bail with electronic monitoring ordered, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 15, 2024, in Wicomico District Court.

During the investigation, it was determined that Shockley was employed as a state-certified social worker and had frequent contact with children during his employment. Investigators ask that anyone with information or concerns regarding Shockley contact the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center at 410-334-6955 or the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 410-548-4898.
