Future bride injured in explosion in Paris club during hen party

A bride-to-be celebrating her hen party was seriously injured in an explosion at a Paris nightclub.

On Saturday, July 6, Ffion Price was at a club in the French capital when the ceiling collapsed, according to a GoFundMe page set up by Price’s cousin Monique.

A description said Price had experienced “a crazy and horrific incident that turned one of the best weekends of her life upside down.”

Per The ParisianThe incident occurred at the Pachamama nightclub. The explosion was caused by the imploding battery of a scooter in a private area on the fourth floor, according to a statement on the club’s Instagram page.

“As a result, Ffion suffered a skull fracture, a further fracture in her ear and a brain hemorrhage, which required immediate surgery and hospitalization in intensive care, as well as facial surgery,” the GoFundMe page continues.

PEOPLE has reached out to Pachamama nightclub for comment, but there was no immediate response.

The bride-to-be, who is set to marry her fiancé Chris next month, is currently in hospital in Paris and her family is by her side, the GoFundMe page says. According to ITV News, Price is from the Welsh town of Brynmawr.

“I hope to raise money to support Ffion’s family with transportation and accommodation while they are in Paris. I also hope to make Ffion’s return home as comfortable as possible and to support her recovery so she can marry the love of her life in just six weeks,” the GoFundMe description reads.

The fundraiser ended with the note: “All donations go directly to Sarah, Ffion’s (mother). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone for your donations so far, the response has been overwhelming and we are all extremely grateful.”

Per The ParisianThree people were injured on the ground floor after part of the club wall collapsed as a result of the explosion.

The nightclub’s manager and owner, Philippe Fatien, said there were 140 people in the venue at the time of the incident, according to the newspaper. The club was reportedly closed at around 2:50 a.m. local time on Sunday, July 7, but has since reopened.

As the news agency reported, the Paris prosecutor’s office said the explosion caused a “small fire” and the “detonation of a non-load-bearing wall, causing debris to fall onto the dance floor.” The Parisian added that two injured people were “treated in a relatively urgent condition” but were not taken to hospital.

PEOPLE also reached out to the Paris police prefecture for comment, but there was no immediate response.
