UNION CITY, Tenn. (KBSI) – The Union City Schools family is mourning the loss of a 10-year-old Union City student who died in a jet ski accident Tuesday.

The Union City Schools family is mourning the tragic loss of 10-year-old student Jack Gear, who passed away Tuesday at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital following a tragic jet ski accident.

“Our hearts are heavy and our collective thoughts, prayers and love go out to Jack’s family,” said UC Principal Wes Kennedy. “We will provide the family and his classmates with any emotional support they need.”

Jack attended Union City Elementary School through fourth grade, graduating in the 2023-24 school year. He is enrolled at UC Middle School for the upcoming year.

“He was such a smart boy, we will miss him very much,” said Allison Palmer, principal of Union City Elementary School.

Two of Jack’s siblings are also students in the Union City school system.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19th at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ron Gray will officiate. Viewing will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
