3M Bissell Steam Shot steam cleaner recalled, may cause burns to users – WGAU

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of more than three million portable steam irons.

Bissell Steam Shot steam cleaners may emit hot water or steam at the user while heating up or during use. The user may be burned by the steam or hot water, the CPSC said.

The Bissell steam cleaners model 39N7 and 2994 with “Steam Shot” or “Power Steamer” printed on the side. They were available in green, pink, blue, orange, white, black, purple or red.

The numbers can be found on the bottom of the device.

The steam cleaners were sold from August 2008 to May 2024 at Target, Walmart and other stores nationwide, as well as online at Bissell.com, Amazon, HSN and other websites, for prices ranging from $35 to $40. A two-pack cost $70.

Owners of the recalled steam cleaners are asked to stop using them and contact Bissell to receive either a $60 credit toward the purchase of a new item or a $40 refund for each steam cleaner they own.

To receive the refund or credit, the CPSC says you must cut the steamer’s cord and upload a photo of the unit that shows not only the cut cord but also the model number.
