OU football legend Ryan Broyles claims racist incident at campus fraternity house

Former OU wide receiver Ryan Broyles claimed in a series of social media posts Thursday that he was recently subjected to racial slurs on the OU campus.

Broyles posted that the insult was shouted from a window of the Kappa Sigma fraternity house about two weeks ago as he walked by.

“I paused, speechless, hurt but not surprised,” Broyles posted on X (formerly Twitter). “My children were with me. It’s 2024, parents, do better.”

The university confirmed to the Tulsa World that the fraternity had launched an investigation and expelled a member as a result of the incident.

Broyles followed up with another post with more details.

“I won’t give that word power over me, but I won’t take it lightly either,” Broyles posted.

In a later post, Broyles said he would not comment further on the situation.

“There has already been an internal investigation. “The names I mentioned have already been identified,” Broyles wrote. “There are over 15 witnesses. Fault was admitted. I simply posted to shed light on the current situation. We can do better!”

The Norman High product set a (now broken) NCAA record with 349 career receptions with the Sooners from 2008 to 2011, with 4,586 yards and 45 touchdowns.

He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft and recorded 32 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns during his three-year NFL career.

Since then he has been involved in real estate in the Normandy area.
