One person dies in hit-and-run accident in Loop

CHICAGO – One person was killed when he was struck by a semi-trailer truck that fled the scene of the accident in the Loop on Wednesday evening.

The man, whose age is unknown, was walking around 10 p.m. when he was struck by a semi-trailer in the first block of East Lower Wacker Drive, police said.

The victim suffered injuries all over his body and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his identity.

No one is in custody. Detectives from Area Three are investigating.
