HOUSTON – Investigators in northwest Houston are investigating a grisly discovery Thursday night, when two decomposing bodies were found that appear to have been there “for a very long time.”

Houston Police Department Lt. R. Willkens said their dispatch units received the first call shortly after midnight. The caller told police he heard homeless people discussing bodies found in a trailer in the 6100 block of Milwee St., near Interstate 290.

Responding police and firefighters searched the property and noticed a trailer with a hole cut out of the top. When they looked through the hole, they found two bodies that Lt. Willkens said appeared to have been there for some time.

“It looks like they’re two bodies, for sure. They’ve been there for a very long time, so they’re very decomposed,” he explained. “They almost look like mummies, in a way.”

It’s unclear exactly how they died, but medical examiners are on their way to investigate. Based on early signs, Lt. Willkens believes they were homeless people who had turned the trailer into a makeshift home.

No additional information has been shared at the time of writing, but an investigation is ongoing.
