Palm Beach sheriff’s deputies arrest a man they describe as a serial rapist

A man the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office described as a “serial rapist” is now behind bars. Vincent Laing, of Wellington, was arrested Tuesday and accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a home in the Wellington Green Apartments community. According to prosecutors, Laing met a woman in the community and took her back to a home there. According to the police report, Laing became violent when they got inside. “She stated that the man held a sharp kitchen knife with a silver blade and a white handle to her face and told her to ‘shut up,’” the report said. The report goes on to say that Laing then repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman. “You can see from his pattern of behavior that he is a very dangerous individual that we need to remove from the streets,” said Andrew Bain, prosecutor for Osceola and Orange counties. Bain is interested in Laing because he is also accused of sexual assault in Orlando. According to this police report, the assault occurred in August 2023. Laing is accused of sneaking up on a woman in a parking lot. “An unknown male approached her, plunged a knife into the left side of her body and began escorting her to an apartment,” the report said. Laing is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting that woman as well, Orlando police said Laing is also a suspect in four other sexual assaults for which he has not been charged. “We are actively working on these cases as best we can to make sure that we can charge them when possible and bring justice to these victims,” said Bain. Laing had been out on bail since his arrest in Orange County when he was arrested in Wellington. The Palm Beach County judge ordered Laing held without bail.
