Man arrested after robbing couple and sexually abusing woman | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man was arrested after being accused of robbing a couple and raping a woman, court records show.

According to court documents, on July 16, a woman reported to the Memphis Police Department (MPD) that she had been robbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown man in the 4200 block of Chuck Avenue.

Records show that the woman told MPD that she and her boyfriend were sitting in the car when a man approached the car and knocked on the door.

The woman said she thought Rayford was a security guard because she and her boyfriend were at a school park after school.

Rayford reportedly got into the car and told them, “Give me what you have.”

Records show the couple gave him $600.

According to records, Rayford pulled out a gun, took the couple’s cell phones and forced them out of the car.

According to reports, the woman told MPD that Rayford forced her boyfriend to get on his knees and face the opposite direction from her and threatened to kill him if he moved.

Rayford reportedly began kissing and inappropriately touching the woman while threatening her with a gun. He then forced her to remove her clothes, lie on the ground and raped her, court records state.

According to records, he threatened the couple again, threatening to kill them if they followed him.

On July 16, the woman was leaving her house when she noticed Rayford walking down the street.

According to records, she followed him in her car and called the police.

Records show that MPD arrived on scene and arrested Rayford.

Rayford was charged with aggravated rape, aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, the sheriff’s office said.
