De Soto man dies after crash in St. Louis County May 8 | Accidents

Jimmy-Jack L. Johnston, 39, of De Soto died Wednesday, May 8, as a result of injuries sustained in a crash on I-55 south of Butler Hill Road in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:53 a.m., Johnston was driving a 2000 Ford F450 northbound and struck the towed unit of a 2016 International Tractor Trailer driven northbound by Alan R. Miller, 68, of Granite City, Illinois, due to the vehicle ahead Traffic slowed down. says the report. Another northbound vehicle, a 2014 Honda CRV driven by Lydia N. Ostrom, 23, of St. Louis, struck debris in the accident.

Johnston was taken by Mehlville EMS to Mercy Hospital South in southern St. Louis County, where he was pronounced dead at 9:48 a.m., the report said.

According to the report, Miller and Ostrom were both wearing seatbelts, and it is unknown whether Johnston was wearing one.

The Ford was totaled, the Honda had minor damage and the tractor-trailer had no damage.
