Police: 1 dead in shooting on North Street in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A man died Wednesday from a gunshot wound on North Street in Portsmouth, police said.

At around 6 p.m., Portsmouth police responded to a call about a burglary and shooting in the 700 block of North Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a man “suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.”

Police said it was an open investigation.
