Strong to severe storms possible Wednesday evening

Warning: Strong to severe storms are possible Wednesday evening

Isolated thunderstorms may be strong to severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain through tonight ahead of an approaching cold front. Storm chances decrease after sunset as a cold front crosses the valley.

WGAL NEWS EIGHT NOW HAS THE WGAL NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST WITH METEOROLOGY TECHNOLOGIST ETHAN HOUSTON. BEWARE, WE COULD EXPERIENCE STRONG TO POTENTIALLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY FOR A FEW HOURS MORE AS IT’S ANOTHER HOT, DARK DAY THERE. AND THOSE STORMS ARE REALLY GRADING UP IN POWER FAST NOW. ONCE SUNSET HAPPENS, THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL REDUCE AND A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION. THIS WILL BRING DRYER AIR AND LEAD TO A COMFORTABLE, SEASONAL END TO THE WORK WEEK. BUT THE TYPICAL SUMMERY STORMS WILL RESET ACROSS THE VALLEY OVER THE WEEKEND AND WE WILL SEE THE RETURN OF SOME LIGHT RAIN AND STORMS. SO WE HAVE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING AGAIN UNTIL 8:00 AM FOR OUR EASTERN COUNTIES. UNFORTUNATELY, THESE WERE THE AREAS THAT WERE AFFECTED BY STRONG, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS YESTERDAY. SO JUST BE CAREFUL. AND UNFORTUNATELY, THESE STORMS MAY HIT AREAS WHERE POWER IS STILL OUT. THE MAIN FEAR IS DAMAGING WINDS AND HEAVY RAINFALL WHICH COULD CAUSE LOCAL FLOODING. AND THERE IS ALSO A CHANCE THAT WE COULD SEE SOME STORMS WITH SOME HAIL AND A BRIEF TORNADO. BUT THE CHANCE OF THAT IS LOWER. RIGHT NOW IT’S RAINING IN YORK, WHERE THERE’S ALSO SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. YOU CAN SEE HERE ON LOCAL EIGHT’S LIVE RADAR THAT THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS NOW MOVING NORTH OF YORK CITY TOWARDS THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER. Also, there’s rain right now in the northern parts of Adams County, north of Gettysburg toward Bendersville, and a light shower toward Waynesboro and Franklin County. Also, there’s a strong thunderstorm moving through the south and central parts of Lebanon County now, moving east, now centered between Lebanon and Cornwall, moving toward Schaeffertown. Well, I’d say 10. Of those passing showers and thunderstorms, we’re going to get an inch of rain, but you’re looking at a line of thunderstorms. Trying to form. Again, we’ll keep a close eye on that. SOME HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS WITH SOME GUSTS AND HEAVY DRAIN ARE POSSIBLE. THERE’S ANOTHER STORM LINE HERE. BUT THAT LINE IS WEAKERING. THAT STORM LINE WILL MOVE IN AFTER SUNSET. AND THEN THE COLD FRONT WILL FINALLY BRING YOU TO THAT HEAT WAVE. AND I EXPECT DRIER AIR TO FORM TOMORROW. SO THERE ARE COMBINED STORM LINES, SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE, RAINY AND HAZY OUT THERE WITH TEMPERATURES RANGING IN THE HIGH 90S TO NEARLY 90S AS LONG AS THE SUN IS STILL UP. BUT AFTER 8 AM THESE STORMS WILL DECREASE IN INTENSITY AND DECLINE INTO JUST COMBINED THUNDERSHOWERS DURING THE NIGHT. BUT TONIGHT WILL BE WARM AND HUMBLE. THE LOW COOLS WILL BE 21 DEGREES. AND TOMORROW WILL BE A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. IT WILL NOT BE AS HUMID AS TODAY, BUT IT WILL BE SEASONAL WITH HIGHS IN THE 28-30 DEGREES. TODAY IT WAS UP TO 34 DEGREES, NOT FAR FROM THE RECORD 38 DEGREES FROM 1989. RIGHT NOW WE’RE DOWN TO 26 DEGREES IN THE CAPITAL. IN LANCASTER, WHICH HAD SOME RAIN AND STORMS THIS AFTERNOON, IT’S CURRENTLY 25 DEGREES IN GETTYSBURG. BUT DEW POINTS ARE HIGH. Tropical humidity still prevails over the Susquehanna Valley, but drier air is not too far from us. Back to dew points in the 100s toward Chicago and Des Moines, Iowa. That’s the drier air that will be moving behind this front as it moves through later tonight into early Thursday morning. So we’ll have a few more hours of these stronger to potentially severe thunderstorms. Then they’ll weaken. But they’ll still be there early tonight. The front will start moving in from the northwest. THERE WILL BE SPOKEN DURING DAWN, BUT MOST OF US WILL JUST SEE SOME PASSING CLOUDS. TOMORROW THE HUMIDITY WILL SLOWLY DECREASE DURING THE DAY. TOMORROW IT WILL STILL BE GAY, BUT BY THIS TIME TOMORROW IT WILL BE MORE PLEASANT, AND IT LOOKS LIKE FRIDAY WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY OUTSIDE WITH LOTS OF SUNSHINE IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, AND YOUR FRIDAY WILL FEEL FANTASTIC, BEAUTIFUL, AND COMFORTABLE. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL HAVE THE TIMELY SWEATY WEATHER AGAIN, AND TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TO NEAR 90 DEGREES, JUST WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SPOTS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY. SPOTS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY, TOO. THE CHANCE OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE TOWARDS THE END OF NEXT WEEK, W
