Parts of Interstate 10 will be closed this weekend at Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO – Motorists will have to endure another round of major construction closures in the far northwest this weekend.

As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, TxDOT will close several streets from 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 19 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, weather permitting.

The closures include:

  • Main eastbound lanes of I-10 and collector-distributor

  • Westbound main lanes of I-10 and collector-distributor

  • West and east access roads of Loop 1604

  • Loop 1604 collector-distributor heading east

  • Loop 1604 eastbound exit ramp to I-10 eastbound

  • All four cloverleaf ramps

The main lanes of Loop 1604 remain open.

These are the minimum closures required for the planned work. All closures are subject to change as needed. Local police authorities will be directing traffic during this time. Drivers are asked to plan ahead for delays. A map and detour information is provided below.

I-10 EB main lanes to Loop 1604 EB

All drivers in the main lanes of eastbound I-10 wishing to access eastbound Loop 1604 should merge onto the eastbound I-10 access road at Exit 556 B and follow the eastbound I-10 access road through the Loop 1604 interchange. Drivers on eastbound I-10 may rejoin the main lanes at the first on-ramp after the interchange. Those wishing to access eastbound Loop 1604 should use the U-turn at UTSA Boulevard and then follow the westbound I-10 access road to the eastbound Loop 1604 access road. Traffic may rejoin the main lanes of eastbound Loop 1604 using the first available on-ramp.

I-10 WB main lanes to Loop 1604 WB

All travelers in the westbound I-10 main lanes should take Exit 556 B onto the westbound I-10 access road and follow that westbound I-10 access road through the Loop 1604 interchange. Drivers may rejoin the I-10 main lanes at the first ramp after the Loop 1604 interchange. Those wishing to travel westbound Loop 1604 should continue on the westbound I-10 access road to the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway. Drivers should follow the eastbound I-10 access road back to the westbound Loop 1604 access road and merge onto the westbound Loop 1604 main lanes after Valero Way.

Loop 1604 EB access road, Loop 1604 EB main lanes to I-10 EB and Loop 1604 EB to I-10 WB

All drivers in the eastbound main lanes of Loop 1604 wishing to access either eastbound or westbound I-10 should exit at Vance Jackson Road onto the eastbound Loop 1604 slip road and follow signs to I-10 east. Those wishing to access the eastbound main lanes of I-10 should take the first ramp after the interchange. Those wishing to return to the eastbound Loop 1604 slip road or to access westbound I-10 should continue eastbound on the I-10 slip road and then make the U-turn at UTSA Boulevard and follow the westbound I-10 slip road toward the eastbound Loop 1604 slip road. Those wishing to access westbound I-10 should continue through the Loop 1604 interchange and take the first available ramp onto the westbound main lanes of I-10.

Loop 1604 WB, access road to I-10 EB

All drivers in the westbound main lanes of Loop 1604 wishing to access eastbound I-10 should take the I-10 exit onto the westbound Loop 1604 access road and follow signs for I-10 westbound. Drivers will remain on the westbound I-10 access road until the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway and follow the eastbound I-10 access road toward the westbound Loop 1604 access road. Those wishing to return to westbound Loop 1604 will follow the westbound Loop 1604 access road and merge onto the westbound main lanes of Loop 1604 after Valero Way. Those wishing to merge onto eastbound I-10 will remain on the eastbound I-10 access road through the Loop 1604 interchange and merge onto the eastbound main lanes of I-10 from the first available ramp.
