Woman arrested after stabbing on Purchase Street in Milford, MA – NBC Boston

A woman suspected of being involved in a stabbing that nearly left one person dead in Milford, Massachusetts, on Monday was arrested a day later, police said.

Sandy Villeda Martinez faces charges of assault, battery with a dangerous weapon, voluntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice, Milford police said Wednesday in announcing her arrest.

Details about the alleged stabbing incident were sparse in Wednesday’s press release; Milford police had previously only confirmed a crime scene. They did not provide further details on Wednesday about what they described as a “near-fatal attack.”

Villeda Martinez was arrested around 3:58 p.m. when she was stopped near the intersection of Sumner and Dilla streets, police said.

The stabbing occurred on Purchase Street, which was closed between Glines Avenue and Mechanic Street, after a 911 call was made at about 4 a.m. Emergency responders found a man bleeding from a cut lying on the ground and began providing medical care, police said Tuesday.

The man was flown by rescue helicopter to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, where he was listed in stable but serious condition.
