Family devastated after teen killed in drive-by shooting in North Lauderdale

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Florida. – A family mourns the loss of 18-year-old Bryanna Nina killed in a drive-by shooting while waiting for an Uber in North Lauderdale on Monday night.

According to Nina’s family, it happened in front of a small apartment building on the corner of Southwest 76th Avenue and Tam O’Shanter Boulevard.

Nina and her younger sister had been visiting a friend, which their mother said was part of their normal daily routine in an exclusive interview with Local 10 News.

“They were close friends,” said Nina’s mother, who wished to remain anonymous. “She was always either with us or with her friend.”

Authorities said the sisters called an Uber to go home around 6:45 p.m. and waited outside. A dark car pulled up, several people got out and started shooting.

Police confirmed that Nina was hit by multiple bullets and was taken to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead.

“We just asked, ‘Are you shot? Are you OK?’ Then we saw her fall to the ground and we just held her,” her sister said.

“She never came back,” Nina’s mother said, tearfully recalling the moment she received the devastating call from the detective. “Everything fell apart.”

Bryanna was looking forward to graduating from high school next year.

Instead of planning her graduation, her grieving family must now organize her funeral.

“If you have any information about the car or the people involved, please come forward. We want justice for Bryanna. This was senseless,” her mother pleaded.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

Nina’s loved ones have set up a GoFundMe account to cover funeral expenses and to help her family cope with this terrible, unexpected loss with counseling costs.
