Family tells how sister was raped and murdered by Salvadoran “refugee” | National

(The Center Square) – After his sister was raped and strangled by a Salvadoran living illegally in the country, said Former President Donald Trump called his family. They still hadn’t heard from President Joe Biden, he said Tuesday evening at the Republican Party Convention.

“Last year we lost my beloved sister Rachel,” he said. “She was walking in one of our family’s favorite places. This beautiful path was a safe place for us to push our babies and strollers, where we walked together as a family, where my wife and I were married, near where my sister’s body was later found. Rachel, a cheerful, successful athlete and mother of five children, was raped and murdered,” he said, by a Salvadoran national and MS-13 gang member who had entered the country illegally on multiple occasions.

The first three times the Salvadoran was caught by border guards and sent back to Mexico. The fourth time he evaded capture, joining two million refugees who have entered illegally under the Biden administration, The Center Square reportedOfficially reported numbers of internal refugees are underestimated by 10 to 20 percent, authorities told The Center Square, adding that they had no idea how many there are, who they are, or where they are. They also expressed concerns about how many violent criminals and potential terrorists have entered the country as refugees and are living in the country.

Rachel’s murder “has been described as one of the most brutal and violent crimes ever committed in the history of Harford County, Maryland,” Morin said. “Open borders are often portrayed as compassionate and virtuous, but allowing violent criminals into our country and robbing children of their mothers is not compassionate at all.”

“My sister’s death could have been prevented. The monster arrested for Rachel’s murder entered the United States illegally after killing a woman in El Salvador. Joe Biden and his designated ‘border czar’ Kamala Harris opened our borders to him and others like him and empowered them to harass innocents. Yet to this day, we have heard nothing from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. They have never apologized.

“When Rachel was killed, President Trump called my family to express his condolences. He wanted to meet with us. He cared. That’s leadership. And we need real leadership back in the White House.”

Last month, Harford County, Maryland, Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler announced the results of a 10-month investigation into Rachel’s murder after she was killed near Bel Air, Maryland, in August 2023. The perpetrator entered the U.S. illegally through the southwest border in early 2023 and was detained by Border Patrol agents at least three times – twice in January in New Mexico and Texas and once in February in New Mexico, according to reports confirmed by The Center Square. Each time, his deportation was processed and he was sent back to Mexico.

On his fourth attempt, he entered the United States illegally, evaded arrest, and made it to California. In March 2023, he allegedly attacked a woman and her child during a burglary and fled the scene. Los Angeles police collected DNA evidence but only had a description of the attacker, not a name.

Through DNA evidence and other investigations, investigators in Maryland and the LAPD were able to link the two crimes.

“While he was in our country, and probably emboldened by his anonymity, he brutally attacked a nine-year-old girl and her mother during a burglary in Los Angeles in March 2023… that was our first DNA match linking Rachel’s case to the one in Los Angeles,” Gahler said.

Working with federal law enforcement partners, investigators were able to locate the suspected perpetrator, 23-year-old Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape.

Investigators also discovered that he had fled El Salvador, where he allegedly murdered a young woman before entering the United States illegally.

In July, Martinez Hernandez was indicted by a grand jury on charges of first- and second-degree murder, rape, sexual assault and kidnapping.

“We are 1,800 miles from the southern border. And American citizens are not safe because of their failed immigration policies,” Gahler said, referring to the White House and Congress. “This is the second time in two years that an innocent Harford County woman has lost her life to a criminal who was in our country illegally. In both cases, these are suspects from El Salvador with ties to criminal gangs. This should not be happening.”

Violent Salvadorans and members of the MS-13 gang continue to be arrested in the US, The Center Square reportedUnder the Biden administration, violent crimes continue to be committed by Venezuelans released into the United States, including violent gang members who are later arrested. Thousands of miles from the border, The Center Square reported. Officials nationwide have reported home burglaries allegedly committed by criminals from Colombia and Chile. Center Square has reported.

Michael Morin said, “For all those affected by this senseless tragedy, I pray for peace. I pray that we hold secular leaders accountable for the safety and justice of innocent people. I pray that we make our country safe and secure in memory of my sister Rachel, who loved life.”
