Delta flight diverted: smell of smoke | Atlanta-Montgomery flight

ATLANTA — A Delta flight was diverted to Atlanta airport Wednesday after an “odor of smoke” was detected in the cabin, according to a Delta Air Lines spokesperson.

Delta Flight 4955 departed from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and was headed to Montgomery, Alabama, according to the airline. There were two pilots, two flight attendants and 57 passengers on board.

The flight, operated by Endeavor Air, followed procedures to return to Atlanta after detecting the odor. The spokesperson said the flight landed safely at the Atlanta airport at 12:45 p.m.

As nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and employees, the crew of Delta Connection Flight 4955 operated by Endeavor Air followed procedures to return to Atlanta after the smell of smoke was detected in the cabin. The customers will be accommodated on another flight departing this afternoon and we apologize for the delay to their travel.
