By Alimat Aliyeva

China has decided to suspend consultations with the United States on arms control and non-proliferation due to the American side’s arms sale to the administration of the island of Taiwan. Azernews reports.

“For a period of time, the US continued to sell weapons to the Taiwanese government despite strong Chinese opposition and repeated negotiations. China has decided to suspend the next round of consultations with the US on arms control and non-proliferation,” he said.

The diplomat blamed the American side for the incident and stressed Beijing’s willingness to maintain appropriate contacts with Washington “on the basis of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation.” He called on the United States to “respect China’s core interests and create the necessary conditions for dialogue and consultations between the two sides.”
