Singer Duffy says she was ‘raped, drugged and held captive’

Welsh pop singer Duffy said she was “raped, drugged and held captive” for several days.

A post on her verified Instagram page states: compassion The singer, real name Aimee Anne Duffy, said that while her “recovery took some time” she was “doing well and safe now.”

In the post, she added that many of her fans are “wondering what happened to me, where I disappeared to and why.”

She wrote: “The truth is, and please trust me, I am fine and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive for several days.”

“Of course I survived. The recovery took some time. You can’t just say it.”

“But I can tell you that over the last decade, in the thousands and thousands of days that I have dedicated to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun is shining now.”

Duffy added: “You’re wondering why I didn’t use my voice to explain my pain?”

“I didn’t want to show the world the sadness in my eyes.”

She also asked her followers to support her “so that this is a positive experience.”

The revelation came after she spoke to a journalist about the incident over the summer, Duffy said, adding: “He was nice and it felt so great to finally speak.”

She said: “You can only imagine how many times I have thought about writing this.”

Duffy, 35, last released an album in 2010 Endless, their second LP. In 2009 she won three Brit Awards: British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year. Rockferry.

Rockferry also won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album that same year.

She said she would publish an interview “in the following weeks.”
