NYPD: Woman attacked and robbed in Long Island City subway station, four suspects still at large

A 23-year-old woman was beaten and robbed by a group of four young women at the 21st Street-Queensbridge subway station in Long Island City early Sunday morning, July 7.

Police from the 114th Precinct in Astoria and Transit District 20 are searching for the four women who allegedly approached the victim at 2:15 a.m. and punched and kicked her multiple times, causing minor injuries, police said. The suspects then took her cellphone and ran off in an unknown direction.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and took the injured woman to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where her condition was stable.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects and described them as having dark skin. One had a heavy build and was wearing a black t-shirt with an orange print on the front, denim shorts, and black sneakers. The second attacker had a thin build and long black hair. She was wearing a black tank top, light-colored shorts, and black sneakers. The third attacker had a thin build and short black hair and was wearing denim shorts, a light-colored tank top, and white sneakers. The fourth attacker had a heavy build and had a double-bun hairstyle. She was wearing a black t-shirt with a pink print on the front.

As of July 14, the 114th Precinct has reported 173 robberies so far in 2024, 27 more than the 146 reported at the same time last year and an increase of 18.5%, according to the latest CompStat report. Assaults are also on the rise in the precinct, with 318 reported so far this year, 67 more than the 215 reported at the same time in 2023, a 26.7% increase, according to CompStat.
