Family of Houston man shot dead on New Year’s Day seeks public’s help in closing case

HOUSTON – The family of a Houston man killed in a New Year’s Day shooting is asking for the public’s help in identifying those involved.

The shooting occurred on January 1, 2024, at 1:45 a.m., in the 6200 block of Greens Road.

Houston police said David Garcia was involved in an argument with a group of people at the scene. As he and the group walked to their vehicle, a person pulled out a gun and shot Garcia in the back.

He died from injuries sustained in the shooting.
