8th of July

Shoplifting: At 5:28 p.m., a 23-year-old Ambler man was observed by security at Target in the Springfield Mall allegedly stealing a computer keyboard.

Gel gun: At 10:21 p.m., officers responded to the Baltimore Pike area near Woodland Avenue to investigate a report that juveniles had fired a gel gun at a vehicle, striking the driver. The group then reportedly entered the Chipotle restaurant and caused a disturbance. Officers found the men on Baltimore Pike and identified a 17-year-old Upper Darby male as the perpetrator. Charges will be filed.

10th of July

Gel gun: Shortly after 3pm, officers were called to Ballymore Road and Saxer Avenue to investigate a young man who had struck a woman with a gel projectile. The man was stopped on Ballymore Road where a gel blaster was found and claimed he had shot a friend with it. The gun was confiscated and the man fled on a bicycle. The man returned and began swearing at police and demanding that they return his gun. He was taken into custody and identified as a 13-year-old from Morton. He was later released to his family and charges will be filed against him.

July 11

Drunkenness in public: At 11:44 a.m., officers were called to the 200 block of School Lane and found a 55-year-old man hiding in a shed on an adjacent property. He was intoxicated and was taken into custody.

Shoplifting: Just after 5 p.m., security at Macy’s in the Springfield Mall reported a man in custody after observing him stealing underwear. They reported that the same man had also stolen underwear less than a week earlier. The 26-year-old from Lansdowne was arrested and later released. He faces shoplifting charges.

July 12

Vandalism: A resident of the 300 block of Hawarden Road reported that two vehicles parked on the street were pelted with eggs sometime during the night.

Package theft: Shortly before 6 p.m., a resident of the 700 block of Dunwoody Drive reported that one of three packages had been stolen from the side entrance of the property.

July 13

Improper conduct: At 10:38 p.m., officers responded to Saxer’s Tavern in the 100 block of Saxer Avenue for a report of a disorderly patron. The 23-year-old Springfield man was intoxicated and had attempted to fight with other patrons at the bar. The man was taken into custody and received medical treatment at a hospital. Charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct are pending.

July 14

Registered vehicle: A resident of the 100 block of West Avenue reported that his unlocked vehicle, parked in the driveway, was ransacked sometime during the night and a small amount of coins was stolen.
