After an incident of aggression at the wheel, the deputies led a chase on the motorway

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A road rage incident turned into a chase for Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office officers Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a driving aggression incident involving two vehicles near Lee Highway.

A gold Nissan Armada then fled the scene on Apison Pike.

The driver was traveling the wrong way on the I-75N northbound exit ramp. An officer was able to stop the vehicle using a PIT maneuver before any significant damage was caused.

When they stopped him, the suspect ran into the woods. After a brief struggle, the suspect was arrested.

The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Jeremy Boston.

Boston already has Hamilton County warrants out for aggravated assault and failure to appear, and there is also a warrant out for the city of East Ridge on a drug charge.

In addition to these warrants, Boston faces the following charges in connection with this morning’s incident:

• Fleeing from a crime
• Evasion of an offence
• Resisting arrest
• Reckless endangerment
• Drug paraphernalia
• Wrong direction on one-way street
• Speeding (80 in a 40 mph zone)

Sheriff Austin Garrett issued the following statement on the morning’s incident: “This suspect clearly showed no regard for the safety of other road users and this deputy’s quick actions in locating and ultimately stopping this vehicle clearly saved lives. My deputies are trained to perform PIT maneuvers effectively, efficiently and professionally. Let me be clear that the HCSO does not tolerate individuals who endanger the public, commit crimes and/or flee from police. We will remove you from our streets to protect the citizens we serve.”
