1 dead and 1 injured when driver crashes into oncoming traffic on Tuscaloosa Highway

A crash in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday left one driver dead and another injured. The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 55th Avenue East and Old Birmingham Highway. One driver was killed and another injured in an accident in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. at 55th Avenue East and Old Birmingham Highway.

According to police, the driver of a Ford F-150 was killed when he crossed the middle lane on the highway and collided with an oncoming Jeep Wrangler.

Paramedics from the Tuscaloosa Fire Department and Northstar EMS rendered aid to the 53-year-old Brookwood man, but were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old woman from Brookwood, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center. She was listed in stable condition early Wednesday morning.

The name of the person killed was not released.

The investigation is being carried out by the TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
