Brookwood man killed in accident Tuesday night in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa police are investigating after a Brookwood man was killed in a fatal traffic accident Tuesday evening.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said they were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 55th Avenue East and Old Birmingham Highway around 6:30 p.m.

A Ford F-150 had crossed the center lane and collided with an oncoming Jeep Wrangler near the cemetery behind Five Points on the way to Hurricane Creek Park, Taylor said.

Taylor said paramedics from the Tuscaloosa Fire Department and Northstar Ambulance were on scene and attempted to render life-saving aid, but the driver of the F-150 did not survive.

She said the driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old woman from Brookwood, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and was reported to be in stable condition Wednesday.
