Dead by Daylight DLC prices suddenly rise on PC

Behaviour Interactive will reduce the price of some Dead by daylight DLC, stating that the increase is being made to support cross-progression. DBD DLC is currently cheaper on PC than on console, but Behaviour says all costs must remain the same going forward. However, you can still buy the PC chapters at the current price for a few more days, and not all DLC will be affected by the upcoming change. Still, this is a sudden announcement that doesn’t go down well.

There’s a lot going on in Dead by Daylight at the moment, so you’d be forgiven for missing the news that the PC DLC price is going up. Update 8.1.0 is here and brings Lara Croft with it, we finally know more about the upcoming 2v8 party mode, and Dead by Daylight cross-progression is just around the corner. It’s a busy time, but it’s not all good news.

Starting Monday, July 22, the price of some DBD DLC will increase by $1. Behavior says this is necessary to support cross-progression in multiplayer play that launches at the same time. All of your progress, currency, and purchased DLC will sync when you enable cross-progression, except on Nintendo Switch. Auric Cells and DLC purchased on the Switch cannot be shared with other platforms when syncing, but those platforms can share DLC back to the Nintendo platform.

“To support cross-progression, DLC pricing must be consistent across all platforms,” writes Behaviour Interactive. “Therefore, starting July 22, prices for individual chapter DLCs on PC platforms will be adjusted from $6.99 to $7.99 to match existing console DLC pricing.”

Many players are not happy, and a common question in the comments is why console DLC prices can’t be reduced to the level of PC prices. “God forbid you from reducing console prices to the level of PC prices,” writes one player, while another responds with a simple “Booooooo.”

We finally have at least a release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, as Until Dawn developer Supermassive’s single-player take on the DBD universe is coming incredibly soon.
