Front increases rain risk in Houston this weekend

Wednesday forecast:

Temperatures in Southeast Texas will be in the 90s and 95s, but with the humidity it will be 105 degrees in some areas. We are NOT under a heat advisory, however, please be careful and drink plenty of water. Showers and thunderstorms are possible. We estimate a 30% chance.

A cold front will move through the Lone Star State later this week, increasing the chance of rain starting Thursday and continuing through Saturday.

Rain chances will increase rapidly through Thursday and will likely remain elevated as a front stalls in the region.

Although this is a cold front, consider that the temperature difference is small but noticeable: instead of being in the 90s, we will drop into the upper 80s to lower 90s.

There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. Saharan dust has been very abundant across much of the tropical Atlantic, keeping things very quiet.

Another factor keeping the tropics calm is the presence of huge Saharan dust patches which help to smother any development of tropical waves at this point.
