Florida fisherman describes brutal attack by large shark – WFTV

FLORIDA KEYS, Florida – A fisherman recounts his dangerous encounter with a shark in South Florida.

The shark attack occurred near Key West on Monday.

Monroe County officials released videos of their response to the 37-year-old victim.

Jose Hernandez said he had just speared a fish and was returning it to a boat when the shark attacked.

“He kept his mouth shut here and here. And I try to keep my mouth shut all the time, all the time, all the time,” Hernandez said.

Witnesses said he was attacked by a 2.5-meter-long bull shark.

Hernandez was flown to the hospital for bites on his left lower leg and chest.
