Uttar Pradesh: Court sentences man to 10 years in prison for raping a minor

Maharajganj (UP), July 17 (PTI) – A man was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a court here for raping a minor girl in 2019.

Special Public Occupational Choir (POCSO) Vinay Kumar Singh on Tuesday also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on convict Mohmmad Alam, Deputy District Government Advisor Vinod Kumar Singh said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on July 13, 2019, when Alam lured the 14-year-old girl out of her house and raped her.

The survivor’s father had filed a complaint and a case was filed under relevant sections of the IPC, including Section 376 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
