Accident on I-10 East causes significant delays for morning commuters

Emergency crews are working at the scene of the accident, which had closed I-10 just past the Chef Menteur Highway. One lane has reopened. Traffic is backed up as far as the Highrise Bridge.

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Department of Traffic and Development reports one lane of eastbound Interstate 10 is open, but the left two lanes are closed due to a serious accident.

Emergency crews at the scene have closed I-10 just past Chef Menteur Highway. Authorities say the interstate is down to one lane, with the two left lanes blocked, causing traffic to back up to the Highrise Bridge.
