Boston police officer hit by car during gun investigation in Dorchester

A Boston police officer was hospitalized after he was struck by a car in Dorchester late Tuesday night while responding to a 911 call about armed people, police said.

At 11:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to 33 Stanton Street after receiving information about armed individuals in the area, Sergeant Detective John Boyle, a Boston police spokesman, told MassLive. A vehicle then “took off” and struck an officer who arrived at the scene, Boyle said.

According to Boyle, the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested two people and seized three weapons at the scene, Boyle said. The identities of the arrested people and the charges against them were not yet known Wednesday morning.
