15-year-old boy killed, 2nd may be paralyzed after shooting in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – Two 15-year-olds were shot and killed in southwest Houston late Tuesday night.

One of them showed up at the local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He died.

The second was shot in the back and police say he could be paralyzed.

The shootings may be related, police said.

“Some witnesses said the man who ended up in the hospital was going to Alief Learning Center to pick up money from someone and there were suspects involved, the shooting happened. We still don’t know the exact details of that shooting,” HPD Lt. Ronnie Willkens said. “They don’t think we’re getting the facts from everyone to try to figure out exactly what happened, but we do believe these two cases are related.”

Friends of the teenager who was shot in the back told police the shooting happened at a local store.

“All they were saying was they were at a corner store, some location, we still don’t know where it is because they couldn’t give good locations or addresses or where they say they were,” Willkens said.

Those friends drove the victim to an area near Rogerdale Road, between Bellaire Boulevard and Town Park Drive, and called for help. Lt. Willkens said the teen may have been paralyzed.
