13-year-old boy shot near Kent Park

Witnesses reported seeing a group of young boys running away from the crime scene in Turnkey Park after the shooting.

KENT, Washington – A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed in a Kent park Tuesday night.

According to Kent police, the shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in Turnkey Park on 100th Avenue Southeast. The boy was shot in the stomach and then taken to a nearby apartment complex. Police then received 911 calls and rushed to the apartment, where they attempted to provide life-saving aid, but the boy died at the scene.

According to KPD, several witnesses observed the shooting in the park and reported seeing a group of young boys running away from the scene.

Officers found a stolen vehicle nearby and are trying to determine if it was used in the shooting.
