Mayfield Heights man arrested for drunk driving after car crashes into tree: Lyndhurst police report

On July 13 at 2:30 a.m., a caller reported that a dark blue car struck a tree on Richmond Road and then drove away north.

The car was stopped on Ridgebury Boulevard, where Lyndhurst police found officers from Highland Heights and Mayfield Heights police with the car.

The driver, a 34-year-old man from Mayfield Heights, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. His blood alcohol content was 0.167, which is above the state minimum drunk driving limit of 0.08.

Arrest Warrant: Richmond Road

On July 10 at 12:15 a.m., an officer checked the registration of a car that appeared to have illegal tint on its windows. A traffic stop followed because the car also appeared to have the license plate of another car.

The officer issued a warning to the driver, a 31-year-old woman from Cleveland, for having illegal window tint and a fake license plate. The license plate belonged to a car that had been reported stolen in Cleveland.

It also turned out that the woman was wanted on a warrant issued by the Willoughby Police Department. She was arrested on the warrant and turned over to the WPD.

Flee and Escape: Mayfield Road

At 2:35 a.m. on July 8, an automatic license plate reader notified police that a car traveling on Richmond Road near Legacy Village and Cedar Road had been reported stolen from an address in Euclid.

A Lyndhurst Police Officer attempted to make a traffic stop in front of the LPD station at City Hall (5301 Mayfield Road), but the suspect’s eastbound vehicle did not stop.

The suspect was traveling 80 miles per hour on Mayfield Road while passing Lander Road. Lyndhurst police lost sight of the car and ended the pursuit as the car approached I-271.

Mayfield Heights Police were notified of the car. An MHPD officer last saw the car traveling approximately 100 miles per hour on I-271 northbound at Ridgebury Boulevard, but did not pursue it.

Disruption: Edsal Drive

On July 8 at 1:30 a.m., a caller reported hearing a woman screaming and a man laughing at a home on Edsal Drive. He said he heard the same thing again 30 minutes later.

At the crime scene, police found that the man and woman were playing a video game.

Assuming someone else’s identity: Mayfield Road

On July 10 at 10:25 a.m., a 41-year-old Cleveland man went to the police station to report that his brother had used his identity during a traffic stop in Lyndhurst.
