Clinton County man killed in Woodward Township crash Tuesday morning | News, Sports, Jobs

The driver of an empty three-axle logging truck was killed when his northbound vehicle left Route 220 in Woodward Township at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and traveled 150 to 200 feet into dense brush, striking numerous trees just south of the city-township border, state police confirmed.

Township firefighters said the driver had suffered cardiac arrest when they arrived at the scene.

All efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

There was no evidence of traumatic injuries on the man’s body and it appeared he suffered a fatal heart attack, Kiessling said, adding that the driver was from Clinton County and in his early 60s.

The coroner’s office expects to release the driver’s identity today once all of the victim’s family members have been notified, Kiessling said.

The wreckage, surrounded by thick undergrowth, was not visible from the four-lane highway.

Representatives from the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office arrived at the crash scene shortly before 8 a.m.

Northbound traffic was limited to one lane and will likely remain that way for most of the morning. Drivers are asked to use caution when approaching the city limits.

A team of accident reconstructionists was also on site.
