58-year-old bus driver dies after double-decker bus crashes into tree along Woodlands Avenue 2

SINGAPORE – A 58-year-old bus driver has died after the bus he was driving crashed into a tree in Woodlands.

Both the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Police Force were informed of a road accident on Woodlands Avenue 2 towards SLE to Woodlands Avenue 9 at around 9.25am on Tuesday (April 16).

Police confirmed that the accident involved a bus that hit a tree. The driver was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in an unconscious state, where he subsequently died.

The police investigation is ongoing.

A video posted on the Instagram account “sgfollowsall.backup” on Tuesday afternoon shows a double-decker bus apparently crashing into a tree with a shattered windshield.

Some SCDF officers and SBS Transit staff were seen near the bus attending to the accident. Pieces of tree bark had been detached and were lying on the grassy area next to a footpath.

This was already the second accident involving a double-decker bus within the past week.
